Stair Treads Safety Tips

If you've built as many stairways as I have, this is a very simple question to answer. Should I use 2 x 12 or 3 x 12 for my stair treads? Without a doubt I would use the 3 x 12 for a couple of reasons.

The thickness of the three by material gives it some additional strength and that strength could prevent someone from falling through the stairway and getting injured. Visually looking at the 3 x 12 it gives you the illusion that the stairway is safe. Once you start walking up the stairway and the stairs seem solid and well constructed, it takes the illusion and makes it a reality.

If you're walking up a poorly constructed stairway every day, not only is it a safety problem but it takes a little bit of effort as you walk up the stairway, holding on to the hand rail with a death grip, this can easily wear someone out physically and mentally, over time. Stairways should be constructed and maintained with safety as the main priority.

If you've ever walked up and older stairway that was built using 2 x 12 for the stair treads, you probably know what I'm talking about. Walking up and down the stairway, while the stair treads are moving, does not give you a strong sense that the stairway is safe. And of course sometimes the stairway isn't.

For example if you have a 3 inch knot in a 2 x 12 stair tread, over time as the wood expands and contracts, the knot can loosen up and fall out of the stair tread, often creating a weak spot in the step. With a thicker stair tread, it will take a little more expanding and contracting to create a weak spot in the stair step.

If you're building a stairway wider than 36 inches, with no center stair stringers to support the stairway, I would suggest using a 3 x 12 or 4 x 12 for your stair treads. 2 x 12 should not be used for stair treads on any staircase wider than 36 inches.

If you choose to use 2 x 12 for your stair treads, select premium grade lumber for safety. Try to avoid using center cut building materials and 2 x 12 with knots larger than an inch and a half. Large knots are one of the biggest problems in construction safety.

Goals - You Cannot Expect to Get From Here to There Without Them

Well perhaps it is time that everyone sit back and admit that they know where they are and they know where they truly want to be and that those two places are not the same. Thus, it's important to know how to get from A to B. Simply dreaming of a better life, marriage, career, business, new home or a multitude of other things is not going to make them magically appear.

Now I am not suggesting that you stop using the power of positive thinking, rather I am saying that you need to do more than just wishing upon a star. The concept that successful coaches often recite is a much quoted saying; You Have to Believe to Achieve! Yes, of course, that is true, however you must also take action and that means you need to get with the program and give it your 110%. It also means you need to focus your energies and set goals.

Without goals you really should not expect to get from here to there anytime soon, if ever. Perhaps, what we are saying here is that; "If you do not know where you are going, then any road will take you there," which is a fun and over used clich, still when considering this we must also think about the fact that where ever that road does leads, most likely it is not where you wish to end up.

So, it is imperative that you have a plan and strategy that correspond to your main goal. Then work hard each and every day to accomplish all the little goals (components) that lead you down the path towards your destiny!

How to Clean Kitchen Cabinets

Like most smart homeowners, you realize the impact the right cabinets can have on your kitchen. Selecting the perfect cabinets for your home is one thing; keeping them looking great is another. Here are some handy hints to keep your cabinets looking as beautiful as the day you put them into your kitchen.

Cleaning 101

If youre like the typical homeowner, you have wood cabinets finished with a catalyzed conversion varnish. These types of cabinets only need to be cleaned occasionally by wiping with a damp cloth and dried with a soft cloth. Keep in mind that you can use gentle soap and water once in a while, but your cabinets wont stand up to this kind of treatment on a regular basis. And abrasive cleaners or furniture cleaners that remove wax build-up should be avoided altogether.

Choose Non-Abrasive Alternatives

Instead, look for a liquid, non-abrasive cleaner. If theres grease build-up on your cabinets, experts recommend the same tip you might have heard from your grandmother: Use a solution of equal parts vinegar and water, which wont leave residue behind. But no matter what anyone says, you wont need to use any type of wax products they wont hurt your cabinets, but they wont make them look any better, either.

Do your cabinets have punched tin or metal inserts?

Clean these panels with a soft, dry cloth. If thats not enough and you need a liquid cleaner, use only a mild soap diluted with water, then wipe immediately. Stay away from abrasive cleaners, waxes and polishes, as these can damage the inserts protective coating.

What about the hardware?

Most cabinetry has coating on the hardware specifically designed to protect it against abrasion and corrosion, so cleaning it is simpler than you might think. Just use a soft cloth with some warm water and a gentle, non-abrasive cleaning solution to remove any dirt or spills.

An Ounce of Prevention

There are some easy things you can do to care for your cabinetry that will not only make your regular cleaning much easier, but also to extend the life of your cabinets. These tips may seem like common sense, but cabinetry experts say that over time, the smallest things can have a big impact on your cabinets.

On finished wood surfaces:

  • Immediately clean liquid or food spills

  • Inks can rub onto your cabinets finish, so dont forget to pick up newspapers or other printed papers

  • Pick up items rather than sliding them across surfaces
  • With a little patience and a simple cleaning routine, you can keep your kitchen cabinets sparkling like brand new. Beginning when they are new is the smartest idea to keep your cabinets in top condition for years to come.

Floor Decorating Ideas - Bamboo For Flooring

When I was growing up the choice of floor decoration was oilcloth [a thin type of linoleum], or linoleum [lino] in the bedrooms and, in the living rooms downstairs, lino covered with a large rug or, if you had a better budget, herringbone hardwood flooring with a large rug in the middle. A stair runner lined the center of the stairs held in place with a brass stair-rod. These ideas moved on into the 1970s with fitted carpets which had large swirly patterns: you were really somebody if you could afford fitted carpets! Fitted carpets came and stayed, the only real changes being the textures and fabrics, the colours and whether the carpets were plain or patterned. These all changed according to fashion. Cork tiles made a brief appearance as being the must-have flooring options in the bathroom and kitchen. They never really went out of fashion as they are practical and warm underfoot.

However, the late 1990s was when laminate flooring made its appearance and hardwood flooring came back with a vengeance. Floors to aspire to are now hardwood floors, with the whole of the living area having the same kind of flooring. Gone are the days of the unhygienic carpeting in the kitchen: this has been replaced by a multitude of flooring options, from recycled rubber to slate, stone, hardwood, laminates, and tiling. Many bedrooms are also finished with laminate or hardwood flooring, brightened up with scattered rugs. In my own home, however, I have retained deep-pile carpets in the bedrooms and, in all the downstairs rooms I have installed hardwood flooring which has been stained and varnished to give it a deep timbre to bring out the beauty of the wood. It is so much easier to keep clean and I believe this is far more hygienic than fitted carpets everywhere which can harbour germs deep down in the fibres.

The number of DIY shops that sell both hardwood and laminate flooring is amazing when, if you think about it carefully, fitting flooring effectively so that it looks good and lies properly, is an experts' job. It is certainly not something I would consider doing. After all, if you mess it up, hardwood is not a cheap option - if you are paying out that sort of money, as far as I am concerned, it is better to pay a bit more and employ an expert to fit it properly. In this case, the end result well justifies the means! So, if you are choosing laminates or hardwoods, what are you going to be looking for? Good hardwood flooring will add value to your property and will last a lifetime. If it does start to look a bit tired, it just needs to be sanded down, re-stained and given a new coat of varnish. Solid hardwood flooring planks are available in cherry, walnut, maple, and oak. Also available are other woods such as teak and bamboo which, although not a wood but a grass, is very popular in these economically sustainable times.

Obeying God and Hearing His Voice

A friend of mine told me he once asked a godly lady how she became so powerful with God. She replied, "Have you ever been in a restaurant or some other public place and felt God leading you to go talk to some stranger there?" He said yes. She asked, "Did you do it?"

He was silent as he thought of opportunities missed. She said, "Well, there you have it."

The life of a disciple is lived with regular knots in the pit of your stomach. Perhaps there are some great disciples out there who are never in fear that what they think is the voice of God inside is really just some inner impulse that will lead them to great embarrassment. I don't know any disciples like that, though. The great disciples I know set the fear aside, live with the knot in the pit of their stomach, and risk embarrassment.

These disciples talk to people, including strangers, that they feel led to talk to. They say that strange thing that they feel God leading them to say. They do that unusual thing that they feel God leading them to do.

I remember one night in Germany feeling led to talk to a man I was walking past on the sidewalk. I didn't know what to say, but I remembered years earlier that an evangelist (Danny Duvall) had said thatstraightforward is best. Just tell them that you want to talk to them about Jesus.

So I stopped this man with the question, in German, "Do you know Jesus?" His answer was amazing. "How could I possibly know Jesus? He's been dead for two thousand years."

I had one of the most interesting talks I've ever had with that man. I don't know what impact it had on him, but it led to one of the more interesting nights of my life. He invited me to talk to him more at the bar he was walking to. I went home to tell my wife I was taking him up on the invitation, and then I went to the bar.

When I got there, the German man wasn't there, but an old friend from the military was. I got to spend an hour talking to him about life and about the Lord. After that hour, another man came in talking about God. Yes, talking about God in a bar. He was very strange, and he had strange ideas about God. I talked to him until he let down and began talking a lot more reasonably, and he began admitting he knew he needed to give his life to God. It was a very, very unusual conversation.

Amazingly enough, it didn't end there. The owner of the local "house of ill repute" (that was legal in Germany then, and it may still be) came in. The bartender refused to serve him and said he always came in to start fights with Americans. I asked him in German why he hated Americans, and he was surprised I spoke German. He said he was still mad about world war II, even though he had to have been a child during the war. I was able to preach the Gospel even to him, though he was very resistant to it.

Afterwards, I drove the strange man that had talked about God to his room on base. The military had sent him over for just one week, and so I never saw him again, but I know our conversation made an impact on his life. He had been drinking a bit in the bar, even though I hadn't been, and he really opened up on the way to his room.

I've missed my share of opportunities by not listening to that quiet inner voice, but I didn't miss that one. It's been more than twenty years since that happened, but the stories from that night still inspire me and others not to let God's whisperings go by unheeded.

Make your own memories. You can't be a disciple without regularly feeling the gnawing fear that comes when God asks you to do something outside your comfort zone. The choice between obeying your fear and obeying God can be the one difference between being a great man or woman of Godand being just another person who left no impact on this world.

Make Money Online With Pay Per Click

Many people have considered signing up with Pay Per Click as a good way to make money online. While it is still entirely possible to use this method as a profitable means to make money online, there are a few things that you have to consider if you are to get the most out of it.

One of the first things that you have to realize is that the days of using Pay Per Click to make money online easily are over. There are far too many online marketers - most of them new to the business - that have grand plans of earning big money by way of pay per click advertising with Google AdWords and by buying traffic on Google. While it is indeed the fastest way to draw traffic to your web site, it is by no means easy. Sure you can buy loads of traffic fairly easily, but making money with pay per click is another matter entirely.

You also have to keep in mind that Pay Per Click is not a get rich quick scheme. This is another common misconception and one that far too many people have learned the hard way. It is certainly true that pay per click is still a huge market with a great potential for opportunities and financial rewards, but if you are expecting to get rich quickly it simply wouldn't be too realistic to expect that. Furthermore, it appears that new advertisers - especially on Google - are in fact at a huge disadvantage as far as Pay Per Click is concerned.

While we are by no means telling you that you should discount Pay Per Click outright, it is important to figure out how it can best work for you in order to maximize its potential to earn money for you. There are still many web sites that make a lot of money through Pay Per Click advertising and it is possible for it to work for you as well. You do have to be aware that the success of Pay Per Click varies from market to market, with some areas enjoying huge success and others failing miserably. In some areas it can even take months and months before these efforts begin to show profits.

The key to make money online with pay per click is figuring out a method that will helps you hone in on effective keywords and combining them into effective ad groups.

    Help Me Pay the Bills

The ones who have been there and done it have quite some useful tips to help those who would want to make money or venture into this field. Some of these tips have boosted quite a lot of online earnings in the past and is continuously doing so. Google AdSense is the easiest way to generate significant amounts of revenue from any website. Google gives you a script to paste into your website which will analyze the keywords on your site and then display related ads to your readers. You'll receive a share of the cash revenue Google receives from its advertisers for each click. (Google doesn't define the exact percentage.)

Google AdSense is available for any English language website. Sites dealing with porn, gambling, and online pharmacies are not eligible and will not be accepted. You are also not allowed to put AdSense up on a site with the sole purpose of driving revenue through AdSense. i.e. Your site must actually have some kind of purpose other than getting people to click on ads.

Sites that work best with Google are content based sites with a lot of traffic. You'll make more money with Google AdSense by placing the Google ads in a prominent place on your site, and it's always a good idea to experiment with the color schemes and sizes.

Here are some useful tips where you can learn more about Google AdSense:

    1. Google AdSense Homepage
    2. Google AdSense Program Policies

One final important thing to remember: it's clearly stated in Google's terms and conditions that you are not allowed to talk about how much money you make with Google AdSense. You want to be very careful not to get banned from their program.Don't settle for a half baked program. You must do the math. Why throw money away? Be professional about it.

Money Making Idea - Do You Want to Make Money? Then Put This Strategy Into Action

Are you looking for ways to make money online? Perhaps you are looking to make yourself some extra money on the side. Or maybe you just got laid off and need a source of income. Or maybe you just want to be your own boss.

Regardless of the reason, you want to make money online. So what is a strategy that you can use? This article will discuss a method that you can put into action in order to make money on the internet.

This method is for you to create your own product to sell to customers.

Yes, you can sell your own products online. What if you do not have anything to sell, you may ask? Think again. You can create products that are informational, not physical. These informational products may be eBooks, PDF reports, and so on. You don't even need to carry inventory for these types of informational products because your customers can download them directly off the internet.

So how do you create your product? Well, one way is to use the knowledge you already have on a particular subject and create it yourself. If you want to write about something that you do not have knowledge about, you can conduct research on the internet from reliable sources and create the product that way.

Once you have completed your product, just set up a simple website (where your customers can visit to purchase it), and drive traffic (there are many different traffic generation methods) to the website.

Home Improvement Contractors Vary So Only Choose the Well Qualified

By being very careful about whom you hire as a home improvement contractor you can ensure that at the end of the project you will have a comfortable home in which you can relax and enjoy spending quality time with your family and guests. It is their ability that will eventually govern how much success you get out of the home improvement project and so you need to choose wisely.

There are certain things that you must consider before hiring a home improvement contractor. For one, you need to be sure that the builder will be able to properly schedule and coordinate as well as plan and implement the home improvement plans you present to them and in addition you also need to be sure that you get the project finished in time and in the most efficient manner as well. It cannot be overemphasized enough that the final outcome of a home improvement project will depend on the expertise and honesty of the contractor that you hire to accomplish the task on hand.

You can start your search by checking a number of online sites and by also checking with home improvement centers as too by asking your neighbors. In fact, before you decide on a particular home contractor it makes sense to have more than a few prospective people in mind and to then scrutinize each one's resume till you find the most reasonable and best qualified one.

Also, you need to provide each of the prospective home improvement contractors with an identical set of plans to see how they respond. You can compare their offers before deciding which one seems to be best suited for the job.

Another important aspect to hiring a builder is checking that they hold a license is in order because this license helps to ensure that the person you hire is qualified to do the job on hand. In addition, you should ask for and check references and also check with the Better Business Bureau and compare the timeline they give to complete the work. Finally, you can also assess a home improvement contractor's qualifications from the type of quote they present to you and also by the amount they are charging.

American Home Vegetable Gardening & the Tomato

A hundred years ago, almost every American family grew some of their own produce at home. In rural America, farming families would grow almost all their vegetables, as well as raise livestock for their meat and dairy needs.

Today, with the advent of mass transportation and the growth of suburban America, there are fewer and fewer self-supporting family farms. Many Americans living in urban or suburban areas do the majority of their grocery shopping at large commercial grocery stores. However, home vegetable gardening has reemerged as a popular hobby for families.

Of all homegrown vegetables, the tomato is considered the most popular crop. Many American families plant at least one tomato plant each year, either in their backyard or somewhere in the landscaping around their home. What is the reason for the tomato plant's widespread popularity? It is an extremely easy plant to grow, thriving in almost all U.S. climate conditions and soil types. Tomatoes will grow in almost any location that receives at least four hours of sunlight per day. They do require regular watering for optimum fruit production, but will produce some fruit even in dry conditions.

Tomatoes are a fairly disease resistant crop, too, suffering only occasionally from leaf wilt and blight. Good planting and pruning techniques can usually prevent these problems. Tomato bugs, white flies, and cutworms can also pose threat to tomatoes, but these pests can usually be kept at bay with soap spray, cutworm collars placed at the bottom of the plant, or other commercially available pesticide sprays.

Because tomatoes are such a popular plant for home gardeners, they are usually readily available for purchase as young plants from local garden centers and discount stores during the early spring months of the year. Plants found in stores will probably be of the more common varieties and hybrids such as Better Boy, Beefsteak, Sweet 100 (a cherry type tomato) and Early Girl. Less common varieties may have to be purchased as seeds and grown "from scratch" by the gardener. Growing plants from seed is certainly a more economical option than buying already established plants, and can be worthwhile, particularly when planting on a large scale.

Growing plants from seed is not difficult, and seed packets for many vegetables and herbs usually begin appearing on store shelves as early as January or February. Starting plants from seed indoors is a good way to get a head start on the growing seasons, and can often result in bigger plants and larger harvests. All you really need are pots full of soil and a warm, sunny location for them during the day. For optimum seed starting conditions, you can also use a grow light or heat lamp.

Greenhouses can also be enormously helpful in starting plants from seed, because they create warmer growing climates for the plants than the surrounding air outside. For the gardener with space restrictions, indoor tabletop green houses can be a good option, as they occupy no more space than a small table or workbench. For the serious gardener with plenty of outdoor space, a larger outdoor greenhouse may be the better choice. Greenhouse kits to help you build your own greenhouse are readily available through specialty catalogs and online stores.

Though home gardening isn't what it used to be a century ago, it has adapted along with the American family and our growing and changing way of life. Most families today obtain the vast majority of their food from grocery stores; however, the small suburban garden continues to thrive as a source of good food and a leisurely pastime for millions of American families today.

How Can I Know The True Church?

Let's set the record straight. There's only one Body of Christ. It has no name but His Name. It has no creed but the Spirit-anointed Book with 66 parts. It has no head but Christ. Its members are wildly diverse in thinking, looks, skin-color, and giftedness.

That means that my group is not the only group. That means I can't draw circles around my group that exclude you. Even doctrinal circles. Our understandings are growing. No denomination has arrived. They are all flawed. The perfect churches are the ones on fire with God's awesomeness and being persecuted by the fires of man's awfulness. Perfect does not mean only doctrinally pure.

No Pope or Chief Elder or Superintendent died for your sins. They are not worthy to lead. True men of God in the church of Jesus will submit to each other and all to Christ. Little lords are not needed. One big One is enough. Men who are lording over God's inheritance need to step down.

No label fits the child of God. No doctrinal or denominational title says it all. Throw me a label and I will throw it back. I will not be written off or written out because someone has said I do not belong. If my sins are washed away, and if the Word of God is true, and if there is one Lord and one church, I do belong, forever.

"Ah, so you are an ecumenist!" You see, here come the labels already! No, Christ excludes from his church all who are not born again, regardless of their seemingly glowing credentials. Not everyone will be saved!

"A legalist then!" No, the grace of God cuts across assemblies where most of us would not be found dead. Oh the surprised looks there will be when saints are raptured out of groups we had assigned to Hell! Oh the despair as those who attended "good" churches are lost forever!

The church has invisible borders. Only those with God-trained eyes know where the borders run. Follow the blood trail. The blood of Christ. The blood of the martyrs. There is the Church. Not your little group or mine. Not your little ideas or mine. When it is over, only God's Word and those in whom it dwells will stand.

How to Write Relevant Articles Fast

One of the questions I received today from one of my subscribers is this: How do I write relevant articles fast? After I wrote the response I began to think, I wonder how many of you could use this information - so here is the response I gave to my subscriber on how to write relevant articles fast:

To write relevant articles fast, one of the real keys is getting complete control (knowledge) of the content itself so that you can write from knowledge, not research. This may be difficult at first, because you may not know your niche inside and out, but with a little research, and practice writing these articles, it will become easy over time. That is one thing I cannot stress enough - article writing gets easier over time, so I highly recommend practice - and that means writing lots of articles!

Once you have the knowledge in your head instead of in your research materials. you are only constrained by the speed at which you can type. For example, I type about 50 WPM, and it takes me almost exactly 8 minutes to write a 400 word article, because I am working with knowledge, not research.

Then to make the article flow easily, write a 100 word introduction - the introduction will tell the reader the problem you are going to solve in the article, why solving this problem is important, then tell them how it is you are going to solve it.

In the next 300 words, write 5 points of 60 words each, each point telling them one step to solving their problem. Obviously you can expand or contract the number of points, and then change the number of words to make the total 400. Once you have written 50- 100 articles, you will be able to follow this formula without much thought - you will be able to naturally write using this formula.

Do you want to learn more about how I do it? I have just completed my brand new guide to article writing success, 'Your Article Writing and Promotion Guide'

Attract Love and More With These Simple Spells to Cast Yourself

Based on White Witchcraft, here are some simple wishing spells to help make your wishes come true. These simple spells will enhance your affirmations and help you improve your life by helping you attract love, attract money, and even lose weight.

These simple spells use only four ingredients, the most important being you. Crystals can be obtained from your local New Age store. (Always take care with candles. Light away from any inflammable material, and never leave them unattended.)

    Attract Love & Passion

    * Rose Quartz crystal
    * Pink Ribbon
    * Candle

To attract love and passion in your life. On the evening of a full moon place your candle, crystal and pink ribbon on your bedside table. Before going to bed every night until the next full moon hold your crystal, light your candle and silently meditate your desire. When your crystal becomes warm, blow out your candle. Follow these instructions and your love life will improve.

    Lose Weight

    * Amethyst crystal
    * Candle
    * String

Begin by wrapping the string around your waist and tying in a knot. Using scissors snip the string and cut into small pieces and throw away the string. Every day until you reach your goal cleanse your crystal in running water from the tap. Light your candle. Hold the crystal tightly with both hands. Repeat three times an affirmation to stick to a healthy eating and exercise plan.

    Assertiveness

    * Hematite crystal
    * Red Ribbon
    * Candle

Carefully tie the ribbon around your candle making sure the ends hang down away from the flame. After lighting your candle concentrate on your crystal. Look at your reflection in the crystal and know that you will do what you want to do and not what others tell you to do. Blow out your candle. Repeat this once every day for seven days. After the seventh day cut up the ribbon and throw it away.

    Relieve Stress

    * Moonstone crystal
    * Candle
    * Sea Shell

Light your candle and with the shell in your right hand and the crystal in your left imagine a calm sea gently lapping at your toes, picture yourself dissolving each problem one at a time as the waves gently cool your feet. Let this coolness rise up through your body until you are engulfed in calmness.

Is King Solomon Going to Heaven? Rethinking Christianity

The old testament mentions King Solomon as the wealthiest person that ever lived on the earth at that time and there would be no one wealthier than him in the future. Does this qualify him as a rich person?

There is also the story of the talons. This story mentions a master who rewards one of his servants for using the money his master left him to make more money, by investing it. The slave that chose to bury his talons in the ground, to hide and protect them was considered to be slothful and wicked.

Does this mean that all men and women that invest their money and seek profits are good people? Why would these people be considered good and a rich man will have a hard time entering the kingdom of heaven?

Is there a difference between King Solomon's wealth and the rich person in the Bible verse, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

Now maybe these are just stories created by man and has nothing to do with what the Jewish and Christian God really thinks. But if there is a difference between King Solomon and the rich person, what's the difference? Does King Solomon really get to enter the kingdom of heaven?, or as Jesus mentioned, will it simply be harder for him to enter the kingdom of heaven.

Didn't King Solomon build God's temple and create a beautiful world for most Jewish people to live in? If you're not confused yet, you will be if you continue to read more of my biblical verses that just don't make sense.

If you're what I would consider one of God's ultimate believers in your religion but have no proof that it's true, but choose to answer with the simple statement," You'd Need to Believe or Have Faith." I would suggest you read other books about other religions or spiritual living .

This is just one example of what I would consider a story in the Bible. If you truly view the Bible as the ultimate guide for good living, do you get confused with certain statements or Bible verses. This really doesn't answer the question, whether or not someone like King Solomon actually gets to enter the kingdom of heaven. I used him as an example but there are many others that could have a life of riches on earth, but difficulties going to heaven if the statement Jesus made was correct about the rich man in the eye of the needle.

Home Improvements - Handling the Money Issue

Okay. You found a contractor or service provider that you like. You received an estimate to your satisfaction, you understand the terms of an agreement (i.e. down payment, time to complete, materials to be used, etc.) and have decided to move forward.

First understand that an estimate, by definition, is just that. An estimate is a rough idea to produce a statement of the approximate cost of the project. It is not a promise. Also understand the estimate is for the time it should take to complete the project understanding that if something gets in the way of that completion, oftentimes it will, that a satisfactory resolution to the completion will be set in place immediately upon discovery.

Contact the service pro and let him/her know that you are ready to take the next step and enter into a formalized agreement (contract). At this time, the service pro will set up a time to meet with you to discuss in detail every aspect of the project possible, i.e. materials to be used, color selection, setting a final cost and setting the start and end times. Be realistic about the time it will take to complete the project. This will mostly be determined based the professional experience and labor personnel.

Regarding down payments. We all have our own horror stories and have heard stories from others. However, it is not ethical to make the professional buy all your materials with no money down from you. This is where trust comes into play. If you are not comfortable making a materials down payment, ask to pay the supplier directly. Be advised that if you wish to purchase the materials directly, you most likely will end up paying the full price rather than a discount offered to the service pro if he/she chooses to share that with you. Ask for it.

The best way to handle payments, in my opinion, depending on the size and scope of the project, is to break down the project into segments. Say the job is for a painting project that will take you one week to complete. Half down payment and half due at completion should suffice. If you are not comfortable with paying half, then reason with the pro. They want your business, but you want their trust. In the event that 99% of the work is done, but something else needs to be completed but cannot at that time for one reason or another, agree on a partial payment of the remaining balance due. This keeps honesty in place and you are not looking for someone else to finish the job if the service pro does not finish. This rarely occurs, but it is good to keep everything in fair balance.

That said good luck with your project. If you have any questions or comments about a project you wish to begin or questions about the way a service pro handled your estimate, do not hesitate to contact me. I would be glad to assist and offer my opinion.

    Tropical Flowers

Using all types of flowers for your garden will provide a different look compared to other gardens. You should try tropical flowers in your garden which will spice up your garden and make you fell like you have taken a holiday in a distant tropical location. You can try using these flowers to provide a difference such as beautiful shapes and vibrant colors.

Even though you might think they are pricey, you might actually find some that will go with what your pocket has to offer. Some of the tropical flowers that we do know about include Bougainvillea, the Anthurium, Bird of Paradise flower, the red Purpurea, the Ostrich Ginger Plume, and the Musas flower to name but a few.

The care need foe these flowers is very important to learn about especially since they are cut out for warm areas and might grow to very big heights. Its important to read up on tropical flowers before attempting to plant any in your garden and try and get all the necessary information from your nearest gardening center or florist.

These flowers might need a bit more care than you normally give your other flowers especially since they come from countries like Hawaii and Colombia, this are flowers like the Hibiscus flowers and lotus flowers, as well as many others. It is important to know how to maintain these flowers especially if you want them to live long enough for you to showcase your garden to your friends. Learn what they need for survival and plant the right flowers that can survive in your area tropical or not.

Self-Help Anxiety Curing Methods to Help You Fall Asleep

Self-help anxiety curing methods can be extremely valuable if they are successfully implemented and help you with troubles falling asleep. Most people who suffer from anxiety or panic attacks have an especially difficult time getting a good night's rest. A lack of sleep will only heighten the chances for anxiety to take over your day.

For many that suffer from anxiety, bedtime is just another dreaded part of life. The thought of lying in bed in silence and letting thoughts run wild can be outright terrifying. I used to feel like this, and I wouldn't be able to fall asleep without the background noise of the television present. It's easy to let your thoughts take over and begin worrying about all the negative things that can happen tomorrow, or replaying any stressful events of the previous day.

The obvious truth is that these thoughts do you no good, and when you don't get the amount of sleep your body needs to function you're inviting anxiety into your life.

    Self-Help Anxiety Tip # 1 - Think Positive

Bringing positive thoughts into your life will benefit you in multiple ways. It's really easy to fall into a habit of dwelling on negative thoughts all day long. We all know someone who takes this to an extreme and it's safe to say that this kind of person is never the life of the party. This type of person can bring everyone around them down, and if they exhibit worry or fear, those same feelings are likely to be become contagious as well.

Contrarily, positive speech and positive thinking can also catch on. Positive thinking can replace the habit of negative thinking. When you lie down at night to go to sleep, the first thoughts don't have to be about how horribly wrong your day may go tomorrow. Instead, you may just get into a habit of feeling great about what potential tomorrow holds and looking forward to the future.

    Self-Help Anxiety Tip #2 - Exercise Regularly

If you haven't heard by now, exercise is healthy. I apologize for the sarcasm, but it seems many people don't quite understand just how much exercise can benefit your all around well-being. Sure you'll lose weight and feel good about yourself (as if that wasn't enough reason to exercise), but a regular exercise routine will dramatically reduce the amount of stress and anxiety in your life.

Try jogging a mile or lifting weights for 20 minutes the next time you feel anxiety taking over. After 20 minutes stress melts away and it's often replaced with a sense of elation. Exercise is a potent all-natural stress killer. If you do workout, or have in the past, I have no doubt this rings true for you. If you don't exert yourself often, give exercise a chance. One session won't change the way you look in the mirror, but you will immediately feel the effects of its anxiety diminishing power.

Secondly, on the days that you exercise, you won't be able to ignore the fact that sleep comes with less effort and is often uninterrupted. When you introduce a daily workout regimen into your life, a good night's sleep is a natural byproduct. When you combine the two, anxiety is less likely to be a part of your day, or sleepless night. Practicing both of these self-help anxiety curing methods will benefit many aspects of your life.

If you suffer from anxiety you're not alone. There's help available in various forms. If you'd like to learn some more effective self-help anxiety curing methods, visit Mike's site at:

    What's Jesus's Real Name - Christian Thought

I've been studying Christianity for over 30 years now and would really like to know what his real name actually is. What was Jesus's real name? In the new International Version Bible it states.

This is from the book Matthew in the New Testament.

22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" which means, "God with us."

24When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25 But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

Jesus has always made sense to me, because I was raised speaking the English language. It wasn't until I was in my teens that I first heard some one tell me about Yahweh and that's pronounced (YAH-WAY) . Now I had a hard enough time, the first time I seen Jesus's name on one of the payroll sheets at work. I couldn't believe my eyes, Jesus was working with us, and I wanted to meet him. Lots of luck, come to find out he was a very busy person.

Later on I found out that Jesus is a popular Spanish name and is pronounced (hey zoos), and that's who was working with me. Now again this isn't the only name for Jesus. How about: God, Lord, Word, Messiah, Alpha and Omega, Redeemer, Savior, Lamb of God, Light of the World, Ruler of Creation, Immanuel , King of the Jews and Rabbi.

Another program I watched, said that Jesus's name was Joshua and was pronounced Yeho-shua . I guess Yeho-shua is the closest I have came to his actual Christian name that might have been given by his mother Mary and father Joseph. Oh wait a minute, there weren't Christians back then so this would have been his actual Jewish name.

Well that's the best I could do, good luck on your search for Jesus's real name. Have fun.

    Advice To Jealous Partners

There is No Substitute For Working Your Proverbial Butt Off

Those of us who immerse ourselves in the Self Help industry throw around great-sounding buzz words all day: Action, Achievement, Confidence, Determination, Enthusiasm, Perseverance (we love that one), Wisdom, Zeal, etc. Check it out, I'm so in love with these words, I even capitalize them as though they are proper names.

Just cannot keep my Zeal in check.

However, there is one thing - in our Haste - that we often neglect to touch on. One thing that, if overlooked, will render every capitalized buzz word in our vocabulary ineffective. This one thing is HARD WORK. Good, old fashioned, get down and dirty, hard work.

You can have all the intelligence, education, common sense, self confidence, and, yes, Perseverance, in the world. But if you are not willing to roll up your sleeves and work, it will all be for naught. Things that are worth having seldomly just fall into our laps. Promotions at work, increased traffic on websites, larger paychecks - they are all things we want very much to familiarize ourselves with. Waiting for them to magically materialize, however, will just lead to disappointment.

WRITE IT OUT AND WORK IT OUT:

Think of three things you want in life. Whether they are personal or professional in nature does not matter. In fact, if you are like most of us, you will have a mixture of the two. At the top of a piece of paper, write (in all capital letters), DREAMS, then divide your paper, horizontally, into thirds. Give each third a number, 1 through 3.

Beside each number, write one specific thing you want to bring about in your life. The more specific you can be, the better. You would no't tell your daughter, as she heads out for a date, Sweetie, be home sometime this evening. Heck no! You say, Be back before 11:00. Specific. Definite. No wiggle room. Treat yourself the same way. No wiggle room.

If there is one thing you can say about humans it is this: We know our way around wiggle rooms and can take advantage of them every single time.

Below each specific desire, create a numbered work list of things you need to do to work toward success. For example, if Increased traffic for my blog is one of your three desires, your work list may look something like this:

    1. Write and submit 1 article each evening to Ezine Articles.
    2. Contact 5 similar blogs each week asking for link exchanges.
    3. Visit 3 blogs each morning, before work. Leave related, useful comments, along with my link.
    4. Visit 3 different blogs each evening, before bed. Leave related, useful comments, along with my link.

Again, as with the desires themselves, when you are creating your numbered work list, be extremely specific. Our mind responds to specifics much better than it does to generalities.

    The Very Important Final Step:

Now, go back to the top and scratch out DREAMS. Write GOALS beside it, and never think of these desires as dreams again. They're GOALS, and they're very much within reach. You just have to work for them.

As someone once said, "Self isn't something one finds, it's something one creates." Self Help Daily would love to help YOU create a masterpiece!

Crispin the Cross of Lead - Book Review

Newbery Medal winner of 2003, Crispin The Cross of Lead is an action packed historical novel set in the 1380's of England's peasant revolt. The protagonist is a thirteen year old peasant boy known only as "Asta's Son" (Asta being the boys mother) because he has never been called by his own name. In fact he doesn't know he has a name until his mother dies. The village priest discloses he baptized him and gave him the Christian name of Crispin.

Also, after Crispin's mother dies the only home he has ever known is burned to the ground. Crispin is forced to begin his life as a fugitive for thievery and murder. He is declared a "wolf's head" by the corrupt steward John Aycliffe, for crimes he didn't commit. This means that anyone can kill him like a common animal and collect a sizeable reward.

Feudalism is the way of life for many in 14th century England. There are countless taxes that lowly peasants must pay and constant violence. People were either very poor or very rich. Common people had no say over their destiny. The church is unable to protect parishioners and subject to many cruelties.

"Time was the great millstone, which ground us to dust like kerneled wheat. The Holy Church told us where we were in the alterations of the day, the year, and in our daily toil. Birth and death alone gave distinction to our lives, as we made the journey between the darkness from whence we had come to the darkness where we were fated to await Judgment Day."

There are plenty of chase scenes as well as undisclosed plans shrouded in mystery. Avi develops a couple of compelling characters but Bear, a traveling juggler, will become Crispin's deliverance from the bounty hunters that follow them everywhere. The relationship between the juggler and the peasant become the heart of the story.

Inerrancy of the Bible - Are There Mistakes in the Bible

What does the word inerrancy main? Inerrancy would refer to text that is accurate and totally free of any errors or without any mistakes. Does this sound like any book that you have ever read or have knowledge of. Maybe there is a one sentence book that could fall into this category.

Most books however and even this article has mistakes. If I made a decision to base my life, my entire life and that of my children and grandchildren, I would want to make sure that it was accurate as possible.

Is the Bible, 100%, 90%, or even 50% accurate. Are these stories that were written by people many years ago and the lessons have been helpful but now need to be rewritten.

Does the Bible actually contain the will of God? Some scholars believe that certain sections of the Bible meet this criteria while others do not. How can these people judge if they are not God and how can we believe in this stuff is not true.

If the Bible was inspired by God but written by men, this could actually mean that God had complete control over writing the Bible or does this mean that the man wrote the Bible with gods inspiration. I'm inspired by God daily and often write about it, but don't seem to have enough followers to make it into the biblical Hall of Fame. I'm writing with inspired beliefs right now.

If there are errors in the Bible, how extensive or how many errors are there actually. There are actual stories that can be documented as historical facts. This doesn't mean the rest of the Bible is factual, nor does it mean it is historically inaccurate.

The Bible has some errors in it and some facts that we can prove but leaves us with the question, is this a book from the Creator of the universe or a book written by men, to make us believe, it was written by God and if so why are we still believe being in it. Why do some people read this book and other religious text daily? What motivates them to read holy Scripture regularly but doesn't seem to allow them enough time to find out if they are reading accurate information.

The biggest problem I have with the inerrancy of the Bible is the fact that most people tend to ignore certain truths and cling to their childhood beliefs about religion. If this is not the way or the truth, I would want to start looking for it, instead of following someone else's dreams or religious doctrine.

How to Sell Your Own House - And Sell it Fast!

Are you one of the millions of people who are bypassing realtors and selling your house on your own? This article will give you some tips on how to sell your own house. There can be many reasons for selling your own home besides saving on realtor costs - although that's a big one. The average commission paid to the listing and selling agent is 6%. On a $200,000 home, that's $12,000. It takes hard work to sell your own home but it can be done if you're willing.

First, you must become objective. To sell your own house you have to release your emotional attachment to your home. If you continue to be attached, you will have a hard time letting go and may decline the right offer because you don't think it's good enough. Some emotion is good. A good story, a feeling of attachment always makes prospective buyers feel that they are getting a good deal, but you want to be able to let go when the time comes.

Price your home correctly. Your house is only worth what someone is willing to pay. It may seem like a million dollar house to you, but to the market it is only $300,000. Your house may actually be a million dollar house but at the time you are ready to sell, a number of factors may go into a decrease in the property values of your neighborhood. Be aware of this and price your home to sell.

Presentation is everything! In order to sell your own house it should be the best in its class. You need to make your house look better than any other house at its level in the neighborhood. Why would someone pick your house when there is a better looking one down the street? Remove all the clutter from countertops and remove any pets when you have prospective buyers coming by.

Give your buyers some incentives to pick your house. Install new carpet and paint the interior walls. Have your home inspected and purchase a home warranty. This gives prospective buyers some peace of mind knowing that they won't run into unforeseen problems once they purchase the home.

Market, market, market. You have to get people to see your house in order for them to buy it. Besides the basics of putting up signs and listing your home in classifieds, tell everyone that you know that you are selling your own house. Check with local school principals, they may know of families wanting to move into the area.

USE PICTURES. Align yourself with a mortgage broker, real estate lawyer and/or title company. Besides helping with the final paperwork, these professionals may be able to direct traffic to your home and give you other ideas on how to sell your own house.

    How to Avoid Foreclosure

Many homeowners don't know where to turn when they are having financial troubles. Banks and collection agencies put a great deal of pressure on people and because they may not know they have options, they think foreclosure is the only way out. This can have detrimental and lasting effects, both personally and financially.

Unfortunately, with the current state of the real estate and financial market, this is a reality for a staggering number of people. Here is what you can do:

    1. Contact your lender as soon as you know that you may have difficulty making your mortgage payments. Open and respond to ALL MAIL from your lender! Lenders DO NOT want to take your home! Delays will reduce your options.
    2. Contact a nonprofit housing counselor. This counselor can explain your options and negotiate with your lender on your behalf. Help is always available at 1-888-995-HOPE, or through Home Partnership, Inc., specializing in Baltimore, Harford and Cecil Counties, at 410-679-3200
    3. Write a "Hardship Letter". This letter is required by lenders and must be written by the homeowner. The letter should include your name, your loan number, the date, the fact that you would like to stay in your home, when you fell behind on your payments, the reason you fell behind on payments, and how you plan to overcome these difficulties.
    4. Prepare a Household Monthly Budget. Indicate what your income is minus fixed monthly expenses, variable monthly expenses, credit card debt and a net surplus or deficit.
    5. Prioritize your spending. Review your finances and cut spending wherever possible. Can you sell some of your assets? Can you or family members work extra hours? Demonstrate to lender that you are willing to do whatever is necessary to keep your home.
    6. Attempt to refinance to a more affordable mortgage. The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) has refinance programs available including "Lifeline Refinance Program" and the "Bridge to Hope" program. Also, "FHA Secure" is a HUD refinancing program which you can learn about by calling 1-800-225-5342.
    7. AVOID FORECLOSE "RESCUE" SCAMS! Free assistance is available from a nonprofit housing counselor as detailed above. Do not sign any legal documents without getting legal advice. If you feel that you have been a victim of a scam report this to Maryland's Department of Labor, Licensing & regulation, www.dllr.state.md.us, 1-888-784-0136.
    8. Consider a short sale.

A short sale refers to the potential sale of real estate where the mortgage on a home is greater than the fair market value. Basically, you owe more than what the house is worth. A short sale requires that the homeowner qualify with a legitimate "hardship" and the mortgage company or companies agree to accept less than the full balance of the loan at closing. A relatively new solution to a financial crisis, the short sale has been used successfully as one of the last options before foreclosure.

    Benefits of a Short Sale:

    • No additional funds required at closing
    • Lender pays real estate agent commissions
    • Avoid foreclosure and many times a judgment
    • Preserve credit
    • Commissions and fees paid by lender. No cost to seller.
    • May not affect your credit score

A successful short sale requires a qualified Realtor such as a CDPE (Certified Distressed Property Expert) who understands the complexity of this process and the extensive documentation required. The success of a short sale depends on the knowledge and ability to work closely with lenders, banks, accountants, and other realtors. The short sale is one of the most important aspects of real estate in todays market.

    Online Home Insurance Tips

UK home insurance might be worth considering when you give thought to how much you could lose if in the worst case your home and contents were destroyed, say as the result of fire. While no one likes to consider these possibilities these things can and do happen and without insurance you could lose everything built up in your home, along with the property itself.

When considering UK home insurance you have two choices over the cover you may want to take out. The first is home contents insurance and the second is buildings insurance. If you were thinking of taking out both forms of insurance you would get them cheaper if you took contents and buildings insurance together. Buildings insurance is a necessity as the mortgage lender will not approve your mortgage unless you protect the shell of your home. Contents insurance is not mandatory; however it could save you a great deal of financial stress if you were to lose the contents of your home.

Usually contents insurance would protect any items in your home that you would be able to take with you if you should decide to move home. This could include your furniture, computer equipment and even clothing in your wardrobes. Usually contents insurance would protect your contents against such as fire, theft, vandalism and damage due to flood. You might also be protected against accidental damage but you would need to check the small print of any policy you may be considering as some providers might ask you pay extra for this.

Buildings insurance would protect the outer shell of your home along with anything that you would not be able to take with you if you were to sell your home and move. This could include such as pathways, garden shed, garage and boundary walls. It also included items in the home that are none removable such as fitted wardrobes, bathrooms and a fitted kitchen.

When considering taking out home insurance you would have to give some thought to the exclusions and limitations which are to be found in all insurance policies. For instance certain items may not be protected such as expensive jewellery or collections, again the only way you might know of these is checking in the small print of the cover.

There are ways you might be able to save on UK home insurance. For instance the safer your home is seen to be the cheaper the premiums may be for insurance. Therefore if you consider paying out initially for security devices such as door and window locks or an alarm you could make savings and recoup the cost of the payout. Enclosing your home with fencing or shrubbery can also make a difference to how much you would pay for the insurance. Where you live can also make a difference as to how much you would pay for the insurance. If you live in an area prone to flooding then you could expect to pay out more in premiums if you have flood insurance included in your policy.

Tips For Getting Your Home Ready to Put on the Market

If you are thinking about putting your home up for sale, you better plan on taking some time to get it market ready. From experience, I can tell you that a house that is well kept and "sparkles", both inside and out, will sell faster than a home that is poorly maintained and shabby looking.

Maximizing curb appeal is huge! If a potential buyer drives up and sees a house that looks like the worst in the neighborhood, they may not even go inside! So, take some time, and possibly a little money, to enhance the curb appeal. Some pointers include:

    • Keep the lawn cut, edged and free of weeds!
    • Trim the bushes and add a fresh layer of mulch.
    • Remove toys, newspapers, yard tools and other clutter.
    • Tidy up; pick up after pets.
    • Park vehicles in the garage or in the street; leave the driveway clear so buyers can see the house!
    • Clean out the gutters and power wash your home if there is dirt build-up on vinyl siding.
    • Add fresh potted flowers near the front entrance if you area selling in the spring or summer months.
    • Apply a fresh coat of paint to the front door.
    • Keep your garage door closed!

Maximizing your interior appeal is also very important. Consider the following tips:

    • Thoroughly clean and organize the entire house! This includes removing all clutter. If you have an excessive amount of "stuff", you may consider renting a storage unit and placing those items there until your home sells.
    • Make beds; clean up dishes; empty wastebaskets.
    • Remove items that aren't used regularly from kitchen counters to show more "free" space.
    • Touch-up/re-paint dirty or darkly colored walls in a neutral shade of paint and remove wallpaper.
    • Repair any dripping faucets and showerheads.
    • Set out show towels in bathrooms.
    • If you have an excessive amount of photo's on the walls, remove them. You want to de-personalize the house so buyers can see themselves living there.
    • Freshen the air with potpourri; deodorize pet areas; set a comfortable temperature.
    • Do a quick vacuuming and dusting prior to showings.
    • Arrange fresh flowers throughout.
    • Turn all lights on!

If you take the appropriate steps prior to placing your home on the market, you will have a much better chance of getting your home sold quickly.

    Hydroponic Gardening Information

Are you a plant killer? Did your tomatoes fail to produce again? If so, hydroponic gardening may be just the thing for you.

Exactly what is hydroponic gardening? To put it simply, hydroponic gardening is growing plants without soil. Instead of using soil, plants are grown using a nutrient solution. Plants can either be grown with their roots in a mineral solution only or in another type of growing medium such as perlite, gravel or rockwool.

In normal plant growth, the soil holds the mineral nutrients that the plants need to grow, but the soil itself isn't essential. The soil is just acting as a reservoir or a place to store the nutrients that the plants need in order to grow. In hydroponic gardening, the nutrients are in the water supply that goes to the plants roots.

There are two main types of hydroponics: solution culture and medium culture. Solution culture is when the plants roots arent in any type of solid medium such as dirt, sand, or gravel.

Medium culture is growing plants with the plants roots in a solid medium. The different types of medium are:

Diahydro a natural sedimentary rock medium

Expanded clay small, round baked spheres of clay

Rockwool basalt rock that has been heated at high temperatures and spun back together

    Coir coconut husk fiber

Perlite a volcanic rock that has been superheated into very lightweight expanded glass pebbles.

Sand cheap and easily available but heavy and requires sterilization

Gravel the type that is used in aquariums

    Brick Shards broken up brick

Polystyrene Packing Peanuts sometimes too lightweight and are only used in closed tube systems

There are also two types of irrigation methods: subirrigation and top irrigation. Subirrigation involves the nutrient solution being pumped into the medium solution at regular intervals and draining all the way through the medium and back into a reservoir. Thus, the solution passes completely through the medium. This involves the use of a simple timer and keeps the medium flushed with nutrients and air. Top irrigation is accomplished by applying the nutrients only to the surface of the medium.

With all this information, hydroponic gardening may sound complicated, but in reality, it isn't. Many former plant killers are having great success with it and love it because it doesnt use soil. With the use of a grow light, plants can be grown anywhere even your garage and the plants generally yield higher amounts of produce. Hydroponic gardening is fun and productive and if you were previously know as a plant killer among your gardening friends, you just might salvage your gardening reputation.

    Lawn Mower Repair

Lawn mowers need repairs from time to time depending on the extent of damage suffered. Maintaining a lawn mower needs meticulous planning.

Repairing lawn mowers can be time-consuming, and trying to repair one that frequently suffers damage can take up much time, which in a majority of circumstances can eat into the total mowing season.

Most frequently, when a mower fails to function properly, one would likely trace the problem by its symptoms. For example, if a spark plug needs to be replaced, one might speculate that the engine is failing to receive gas, or there could be snags in the carburetor. One of the key aspects related to lawn mowers is that maintenance is of greater importance than repair, and this holds the key to the smooth functioning of a mower.

The basic thing that needs to be remembered is that after mowing is complete, the engine and the blades should be painstakingly tidied. The mower as a rule should not be cleaned with water, but scraping the underside of the deck and making use of an air compressor to flush the air-filter, carburetor and the engine block and pulleys is quite an effective way of preserving the appearance and operation of the mower.

If a problem is serious, one should contemplate whether investing money to fix the mower is a viable option. In case the trouble is related to the engine, one should check whether the engine is receiving the required fuel or verify whether it is operating correctly with the ignition.
