Renewable Energy - Why is it So Great & Its Benefits

The energy that can be renewed even after usage and is abundant in nature for conversion to productivity is known as renewable energy. Renewable energy is mostly naturally sourced and can vary from as many as wind, light, oceanic and geothermal. Quite a big percentage of energy consumption in the world resulted from renewable sources of energy. A small percentage of energy generated resulted from biomass ranging from wood burning to hydroelectricity.

Solar energy amounts to another percentage of energy generation, but is comparatively lesser in usage. Geothermal, wind, solar and oceanic energy sources are the more modernly used renewable energies. Climatic changes like ozone depletion, air and water pollution are caused by usage of conventional energy sources like gas, petroleum and coal. These sources are non renewable. The concerns of these environmentally damaging sources of energy are on the rise with politicians and environmentalists all over the world encouraging the usage of renewable sources more often.

Solar energy seems to be the most feasible source of energy considering its abundance, at least on planet Earth. Efficient photovoltaic cells have to be innovated for the best use of solar energy for mass consumption. Solar thermal power stations are present in most places, where there is good availability of sunlight. Deserts are excellent locations for solar arrays.

The energy generated from solar arrays in the deserts can power up entire towns or even entire cities and countries in the future. The largest number of solar power users at the household level are the Kenyans, who purchase an estimated 29,000 solar units per year. Hydroelectric sources of energy are some of the cleanest mass scale installations. Biofuel from plant material can understandably be the new alternatives to organic fuels that result in pollution of the air and water. Although biofuel research is in its fledgling status there is a lot of potential in this.

At the moment, probably the best renewable energy you can use to get free electricity is wind power. All you need to do is simply build your own windmill, and you are set to go to save money and protect our planet.
